Стаття присвячена проблематиці генеалогії, визначенню походження роду Руссо-де-Живонн, окресленню основних сфер діяльності представників цього роду. Опрацьовано архівні джерела, родовідні книги дворян Харківської та Чернігівської губерній, встановлено походження даної родини, коріння якої пов’язане з Харківською губернією, зокрема Сумським повітом. Визначено вплив родини на соціально-економічне життя Харківської та Чернігівської губерній, зокрема Сумського та Ніжинського повітів, а також встановлено коло нащадків родини Руссо-де-Живонн. The article is devoted to the problems of genealogy, determining the origin of the Rousseau-de-Givonne family, outlining the main spheres of activity of the family representatives. An attempt has been made to find out the influence of this family on the political and economic life of the Nizhyn region. Archival sources, genealogical books of the nobles of the Kharkiv and Chernihiv provinces have been studied, and the connections of this family with the Kharkiv province, in particular the Sumy district, where this family comes from, have been established. The influence of the family on the socio-economic life of the Chernihiv province, in particular the Nizhyn district, as well as the circle of descendants of the Rousseaude- Givonne family have been determined. The figure of Leo Rousseau-de-Givonne, for quite a long time, did not find its reflection in the scientific works of domestic historians. Despite the fact that today this problem is little studied, today there is a noticeable interest in studying genealogy issues, researching the activities of individual representatives of the Nizhyn district nobility, individual members of the Nizhyn district government, in particular Leo Iosifovich Rousseau-de- Givonne. The development of this issue since the beginning of the 2000s. It is worth noting that the figure of Rousseau-de-Givonne, for a rather long period of time remained forgotten by historians. The development and study of this personality acquires its importance with the need to study the socio-economic development of Nizhyn and Nizhyn region in the late. 19th century. Lev Iosifovich Rousseau-de-Givonne made a great contribution to the reform and development of agriculture in Nizhyn district. He was the continuer of noble traditions in his family, and the cause of the development of a large agro-industrial complex. In Sumy and Chernihiv regions, the Savych family (on the maternal line) and the Rousseau-de- Givonne family, of which he was a descendant, had a huge influence both in the life of the nobility and in the landowning landlord environment. It so happened that his family was not continued, ending with his two daughters: Alexandra and Kateryna.
