Description
Summary:Neyzats burial ground is situated at the centre of the Crimean foothills in the distance approximately 20 km to the east from Simferopol. Regular excavations of the site have been conducted since 1996. In 2009, 39 burial structures from the 2nd c. to the 4th c., including 19 ground graves, 19 undercut graves and a crypt, were excavated. Thus, during all these years of the research 417 burial structures have been studied. The 2009 excavations confirmed the previous conclusions that at Neyzats burial ground since the 2nd c. the sedentarized Sarmatians made funerals. In the 3rd c. the ancestors of the mediaeval Alans who came from the Northern Caucasus joined them. The burial stopped functioning at the end of the 4th c.
