Рассмотрены особенности строения скелета аппарата наземной локомоции гесперорнисов, гагар, поганок и некоторых других рецентных водоплавающих. На основании сравнительного и функционального анализа сделан вывод о том, что гесперорнисы являются самостоятельной высокоспециализированной филогенетической ветвью, а не составляют единую монофилетическую группу с гагарами и поганками, как утверждалось ранее.
Skeletal features of Hesperornithidae pelvis and pelvic limbs were studied in compare with that of waterfowl recent species. Comparative and functional analysis show that Hesperornithidae do not compose one whole monophyletic group with loons and grebes as confirmed before but consist an independent phyletic branch.
