The article defines the role of mass-media in the life of modern society and reveals the notion of the manipulation of consciousness. The issue is approached from emotional perspective, highlighting the essence of the emotion of fear as the basic human emotion and the mechanism of its use as a means of the manipulation of consciousness in mass-media.
