Summary:The folk medicine was proven by specialists to be an independent sphere of study. There are strong connections between the materials on folk medicine and the history of culture. This article presents the materials collected by the author in the territory of Zemplen in the 1960th. The geographic location of this region created circumstances for the wide spread of folks medicine (hills with a lot of herbs, some villages are very isolated which helps to preserve folk believes and traditions there, ect.). The materials collected by the author present data from more then 50 villages, which include Ukrainians, Hungarians, Slovaks and people of different religions. The deep research of the different elements of the folk medicine presented in folk rituals and rites have the power of healing. In some areas certain elements are plain the role of the main components of treatment in others they will be additional.
