The reasons were his pre-war arrest, stay under the occupation during Second World War, and mainly – his artistic and pedagogical activities considered as the collaborationism through which the artist was a post-war prisoner for the second time. Owing to these “faults” there was no place in the official Soviet cinema for this talented director and teacher who studied at V. Meyerhold, L. Kurbas and O. Dovzhenko. Elaborating the themes “Ukrainian Directors-Teachers” and “The Dovzhenko’s Encyclopeadia” (G. Zatvornytski is a figure) the author of the proposed paper has worked out unknown till this moment archived materials.
