Crumomyia pedestris (Diptera, Sphaeroceridae) — the First Record from Ukraine [Crumomyia pedestris
(Diptera, Sphaeroceridae) — ïåðâîå óêàçàíèå äëÿ ôàóíû Óêðàèíû]. — Two brachypterous females
of C. pedestris (Meigen, 1830) were collected by the first author on snow in the same locality near Dibrova
Vill., Vasylkiv Distr., Kyiv Region, Ukraine (50°11'50'' N, 30°11'40'' E) on 8.01.2010 and 1.02.2010 at
12: 30–14: 30, when the air temperature was 0 to +2°C, at cloudy, windless weather, in a forest gully
15–20 m deep, 25 m wide at bottom and 1 km long, with slopes some 40° steep. The flies were col-
lected on the bottom, 50–70 m from its mouth, in a clearing of a sparse alder woods. The flies active-
ly moved on the thin ice crust of snow. Hitherto, this peculiar species has been known from Austria,
Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia,
Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, and China (Rohác

2007: Fauna Europaea) and is recorded from Ukraine for the first time. It usually inhabits wet places,
commonly with alders, and is often represented by brachypterous or subapterous specimens. Larvae in

Orbellia hiemalis (Diptera, Heleomyzidae) äëÿ ôàóíû Óêðàèíû]. — Orbellia hiemalis (Loew, 1862) was
collected on snow in Kyiv Region, Ukraine: Dibrova Vill., Vasylkiv Distr., (50°11'49'' N, 30°11'57'' E)
22.10.2005, 1 }, 1, 3.12.2005, 2 }, 28.12.2005, 2 } (Zaika leg.; identified by A. Woznica based on the
photographs). It has been hitherto known from Austria, Czech Repablic, Germany, Hungary, Poland,
European Russia (central and northern part) and Slovakia, where lives in mixed forests and is associ-
ated apparently with rodents’ burrows. The species and the genus Orbellia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830
are recorded for the first time from Ukraine. Here, it was observed in the wintertime, during thaws on
