The work on perfecting these sources of electrons actively proceeds now in many laboratories of the world. The direction of these researches is connected first of all with increase of the average beam intensity and reaching the homogeneity of performances of a beam during pulse. Together with traditional thermoionic and photocathode RF-guns the new variants of guns with the use of various types of cathodes are offered and investigated.
