Стаття присвячена з’ясуванню на основі писемних та картографічних джерел
 локалізації вулиці Опанаса Шафонського у Чернігові на початку ХХ ст. В статье, на основе письменных и картографических источников, локализовано
 место нахождения в начале ХХ ст. улицы Афанасия Шафонского в Чернигове. In the article considered the existence in Chernigov at the beginning of the twentieth
 century street of Athanasius Shafonskoho. In modern list of Chernigov old streets no mention
 of its existence is found. So the question arises: where there Shafonskoho street and why it
 was named after the famous figure of the late eighteenth century.?
 In plan of the city in 1908 Shafonskoho find out, which took place in the north-east of
 the Petersburg street, parallel to the streets of Smolensk (now part Shevchenko street). The
 materials for inspection by the province in 1924 also found a message on the existence of
 Shafonskoho street. One of the houses of the street is depicted in paintings of the artist G.
 Kovalenko.
 With the historical descriptions Chernihiv of Nikolai Markevich we find out that in this area
 of location the city, which was called «For the sterm» in wooden house lived O.Shafonskyy.
 That is why, at the beginning of XX century street that ran in this locality was named after
 the famous statesman in Chernihiv late eighteenth century, famous as originator «Chernigov
 namestnychestva topohrafycheskoho descriptions.» After the death of Alexander Shafonskoho
 in 1811 the building was bought for the needs of Chernihiv orphanage house.
