The paper analyzes influence of cross-border cooperation on the entrepreneurship development under EU enlargement. Case study results for small and medium enter prises in Zakarpattia, Volyn and Lviv oblasts allow concluding that cross-border cooperation has a strong influence on the emergence, survival and development of small and medium businesses, which in their turn contribute to regional development. But a low level of consistency between the policy of cross-border cooperation and entrepreneurship development revealed in the study reduces opportunities for cross border cooperation and so the prospects for development of small and medium enterprises in nearborder regions.
