methodological position of the analysis is the view on global civil society as a natural
outcome of the contradictory process of globalization and as a new actor of the global
policy. It is reviewed various strategies and responds by global civil society towards
globalization — from support and partnership in the system of global governance to
political anti-global movement. The special attention is paid to the issues of external
pressure by global civil society on authoritarian regimes (the so called “boomerang
effect”). The conclusions on the peculiarities of Ukraine’s political and cultural
situation are suggested.
