Digital Library of Periodicals of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine| Summary: | According to the data of comparative research conducted in Russia and Poland, the Russians manifested on average a stable identification with more number of social communities than Poles. Using the material of 2002, the author of this article discusses alternative interpretations of the obtained data and comes to the conclusion that stable identification with social and structural communities is not a compensation of social deprivation, but а resource for social optimism.
