В статье анализируются основные тенденции осмысления жанра комедии, отразившиеся в критических и теоретических выступлениях русских литераторов 1800 – 1830-х годов. Дискуссии о социальных функциях жанра и принципах художественного освоения действительности в комедии представлены как значимый этап в развитии эстетического сознания первой трети XIX века. Ключевые слова: жанр, комедия, комическое, эстетика, критика, полемика. У статті аналізуються основні тенденції осмислення жанру комедії, що відбилися в критичних і теоретичних виступах російських літераторів 1800 - 1830-х років. Дискусії про соціальні функції жанру і принципах художнього освоєння дійсності в комедії представлені як значущий етап у розвитку естетичної свідомості першої третини XIX століття. This article analyzes the major trends of comedy genre comprehension, reflected in the critical, historical, literary and theoretical performances of Russian writers in 1800 - 1830's: AA Shahovskoy, A.S. Griboyedov, M.N. Zagoskin, A.E. Izmailov, A.A. Bestuzhev, P.A. Katenin, P.A. Viazemsky. The subject of their reflection is a wide range of aesthetic problems related to the functioning of the comedy genre. Among them are the more general issues (ways of reflecting contemporary historical and cultural material, ways of implementing the national manners, the development of Western European samples, the concept of the comic, the functions of the genre of comedy in the culture of the society) and special ones (plot, conflict, the construction of the play, its language and style, the system of characters, comedic characters, the ways to overcome the conventions of the genre, the tone and style of poetic comedy). The polemical thrust of the positions of the classic normative poetics followers and supporters of Romantic aesthetics turns to coincidence in the interpretation of a number of important aspects, the cause of which is the common aesthetic problems. The discussions about the social functions of the genre and the principles of artistic perception of reality in comedy are presented as a significant milestone in the development of aesthetic consciousness of the first third of the XIX century.
