В статті представлена історія сприйняття поетичного спадку французького автора кінця
 XVIII ст. Андре Шеньє в Росії; висвітлюються деякі аспекти художнього перекладу його творів на
 російську мову. Центральне місце займає проблема рецепції Шеньє О.С. Пушкіним: його надихала
 творчість французького поета, він був, по суті, його першим перекладачем в Росії. Серед інших відомих
 російських перекладачів поезії Шеньє в XIX столітті - Є. Баратинський, О.К. Толстой, І. Козлов,
 А. Фет.
 Ключові слова: поетичний переклад, елегія, інтерпретація, лірика, художній образ. В статье представлена история восприятия стихотворного наследия французского поэта
 конца XVIII в. Шенье в России; освещаются некоторые аспекты художественного перевода его
 произведений на русский язык. Центральное место занимает проблема рецепции Шенье А.С. Пушкиным:
 его вдохновляло творчество французского поэта, он был, по сути, его первым переводчиком в России.
 Среди других известных русских переводчиков поэзии Шенье в XIX веке – Е. Баратынский, А.К. Толстой,
 И. Козлов, А. Фет.
 Ключевые слова: поэтический перевод, элегия, интерпретация, лирика, художественный образ. In the article one represents the history of the intellectual perception of the poetic heritage of the
 French poet of the end of the XVIII century André Chénier in Russia; some aspects of the belles-lettres
 translation of his work into Russian are highlighted. The central place belongs to the problem of Chénier’s
 reception by A.S. Pushkin, who was inspired by the French poet’s creative work and who, in fact, was his first
 translator in Russia. Among other most famous Russian translators and interpreters of the poetry by Chénier; in
 the XIX century there were E. Baratynskiy, A.K. Tolstoy, I. Kozlov, A. Fet.
 André Chénier’s poetic fate is irrepeatable in its high tragic character: he died on the scaffold during the time of
 the French Revolution of the XVIII century for two days before the end of the Jacobite terror.
 His creative work chronologically belongs to the verge of XVIII- XIX centuries, though in character and content
 of his verses, and also due to the appearance of his first published collection only in 1819, - Chénier opens a
 new page in the french poetry of Romanticism and at once becomes the idol of the romanticists.
 Pushkin’s interest to Chénier’s poetry underwent several stages Beginniny from 1820 the russian poet was
 charmed by his poetry, opens it for himself, does not losi the interest to his creative work till the end of his life.
 The last translation dates bacu to 1835. The analysis shows that Pushkin was not a translator in the direct
 meaning of this notion his interpretations can be named peculrar poetic variations on the basis of the verses by
 Chénier. Pushkin takes in the poetry by Chénier only those motives and images, which correspond to his own
 poetic world view.
