Языковая политика (языковое планирование) является одной из важных политических
 задач государства. В языкознании этот вопрос разрабатывается лингвистами еще с прошлого века.
 Главной задачей языковой политики считается выбор и определение статуса государственного языка.
 В зависимости от национального и этнического состава населения в государстве, возможны разные
 пути решения. Правильный выбор приведет к консолидации общества, а ошибочный вызовет
 многочисленные социальные и политические проблемы. Поэтому большинство государств проводят
 языковую политику, принимая во внимание интересы своих граждан.
 Ключевые слова: социолингвистика, языковая политика, выбор государственного языка. Мовна політика (мовне планування) є одним з важливих політичних завдань держави.
 У мовознавстві це питання розробляється лінгвістами ще з минулого століття. Головним завданням
 мовної політики вважається вибір і визначення статусу державної мови. Залежно від національного і
 етнічного складу населення в державі, спостерігаються різні шляхи вирішення цього питання.
 Правильний вибір сприяє консолідації суспільства, а помилковий викликає численні соціальні і політичні
 проблеми. Тому більшість держав проводять мовну політику, беручи до уваги інтереси своїх жителів.
 Ключові слова: соціолінгвістика, мовна політика, вибір державної мови. Language policy (language planning) is one of the most important issues of any government. It is a
 system of certain tasks and measures, which are carried out by the state with special intentions. The factors that
 determine the state language policy are political and ideological interests of some groups and ethnic
 communities. The efficiency of the measures implemented by the state language policy depends on the sociopolitical,
 ideological, psychological, and other factors as well.
 The question of language planning has been under research since the middle of the last century. Most of the
 modern linguists believe that the main task of the language policy is the choice and determination of the position
 of the state language and its relationship with other languages in the country if there are any. Depending on
 national and ethnic groups in the state, there may be different solutions. Thus, if there has lived only one nation
 in the particular country, the state language is easy to choose. Usually it is the language of the national majority
 in its literary form. This situation can be found all over the Western Europe (German is the official language in
 Germany, French – in France, Polish – in Poland). In case of multinational states, however, there are several
 possible solutions to this problem. The right choice will lead to the consolidation of the whole multinational
 society, and the wrong one will cause many problems both social and political. Therefore, most of the modern
 countries tend to choose a certain language policy only after taking into consideration the interests of its
 citizens.
