 Ключові слова: латинська мова, навчання, методика, Античність, культура. This article is devoted to the main methodological problems of the Latin language teaching in the
 Arts Faculties. Optimization of the process of teaching Latin is possible with the help of cultural and historical
 comments for texts and interactive techniques.
 One of the basic principles of multicultural education is the formation of national identity along with the
 understanding and recognition of common human values shared by most cultures. Formation of an inner world
 of a person requires not only learning about the national culture but also about cultural values of global
 significance. In order to implement the principles of multiculturalism in educational discourse, it is essential to
 combine the study of world cultural heritage along with the study the achievements of the national cultures. The
 purpose of multicultural education is to educate a person as a part of the world community in the past, present
 and future.
 The article is devoted to the basic methodological problems of teaching Latin at the Arts Faculties. The use of
 cultural and historical commentary for Latin texts and interactive methods of education can optimize the
 learning process. The article examines possible ways to optimize the process of learning Latin at the Arts
 Faculties.
 Ancient images and views are still relevant for European cultures and are used in various fields of cultural life:
 theater, cinema, painting, music, sculpture, literature. Ancient images, myths and views belong to the timeless
 world cultural heritage and have been accepted and assimilated by later generations in specific forms of cultural
 works.
 This work provides examples of the material, which can be used in the study of Latin grammar and in working
 with texts to present the following: facts and characteristics of Russian and Ukrainian languages that could
 contribute to better understanding of certain aspects of the Latin language; specific features of Latin that could
 be linked to similar features in the native language of the students; connections within the family of Indo-
 European languages throughout the history of and their development; influence of culture and science of
 Antiquity on the modern cultures.
