С помощью компонентного анализа и описательного метода проанализированы семантические особенности английских идиом с компонентом реалии в национальных вариантах английского языка. Работа выполнена в аспекте лингвокультурологии. Ключевые слова: идиома, реалия, семантика, национальный вариант, языковая картина мира. У статті розглядається визначення реалії у перекладознавстві, лингвокраїнознавстві та стилістиці. Аналізується співвіднесеність реалій із близькими поняттями: локалізм, лакуна, варваризм, екзотизм і безеквівалентна лексика. Практичний матеріал дослідження складається з англійських ідіом із компонентом реалії в британському, американському та австралійському національних варіантах англійської мови. За допомогою компонентного аналізу та описового методу проаналізовані семантичні особливості англійських ідіом із компонентом реалії у національних варіантах англійської мови. Роботу виконано в аспекті лінгвокультурології. Ключові слова: ідіома, реалія, семантика, національний варіант, мовна картина світу. The article draws attention to the fact that the idioms study in the aspect of area studies began in the 80-ies of the XX century and became very acute as the data, which are possessed by the members of a definite ethnic and language community, are usually connected with the national culture and history. However, as a rule, these data are unknown to foreigners and are a necessary requirement for an adequate communication. Thus, the article scrutinizes the definition of the realia in the translational studies, area studies and stylistics. Realias are understood as words or word combinations which name the objects, being peculiar for the life (lifestyle, culture, social and historical development) of one people and being alien to another one; being the bearers of the national and/ or historical colouring, they usually don’t have exact equivalents in other languages. So, the study of idioms in the aspect of novel linguistic trends as linguoculturology and cognitive linguistics is urgent. The article also analyzes the correlation of realias with such similar notions as localism, lacuna, barbarism, exotic and nonequivalent lexics. The practical investigation material comprises English idioms with realia components in British, American and Australian national variants of English. With the help of componential analysis and descriptive method the research analyzes semantic peculiarities of English idioms with realia component in national variants of the English language. The scientific research is carried out within the trend of linguculturology. The investigation of idioms with realia components in national variants of English is rather perspective as it will help to identify the peculiarities of English-speaking linguistic image of the world, presented by the national linguistic images of the world of the British, the Americans, the Canadians, the Australians and the New Zealanders, and will help to avoid the problems of intercultural and cross-cultural communication.
