Юрист по образованию, он со студенческой скамьи и до конца своей жизни преданно служил театру. Одним из значимых этапов его творческой деятельности был московский период (1912–1917 гг.). У статті на основі архівних документів, матеріалів періодичної преси та епістолярної спадщини відтворюється один з періодів життєвого і творчого шляху найбільшого театрального і громадського діяча царської Росії Ісаака Езровіча Дувана – Торцова (1873 – 1939 рр). Актор театру і кіно, антрепренер і режисер – постановник, авторитетний педагог і видавець , благодійник і поет. Юрист за освітою він зі студентської лави і до кінця свого життя віддано служив театру. Одним із значущих етапів його творчої діяльності був московський період (1912 – 1917рр.). On the basis of archival documents, records, periodicals and epistolary heritage recreated one of the periods of the life and career of the largest theatrical and public figure Tsarist Russia Isaac Ezrovicha Duvan- Torzov (1873–1939). He is a film and theater actor, entrepreneur and director, a respected educator and publisher, philanthropist and poet. As a lawyer, he is from the student time and the rest of his life faithfully served the theater. One of the most important stages of his creative activity was the Moscow period (1912– 1917). Service at the Art Theater (1912–1914). Isaac Ezrovich's debut took place in October 15, 1912 to play the main role in the play "Provincial" by I. S. Turgenev comedy, his partners were the K. S. Stanislavsky and his wife M. P. Lilina. The directorship of the Moscow Drama Theater (1914–1915). Accepting the invitation to head the theater led him to the leadership of "the whole artistic and economic part" of the new Moscow theater. In a short time he was formed troupe, picked repertoire policy, delivered performances. Charity performances and Refugee Fund, contributions to the needs of the wounded and "volatile concerts," opening Infirmary – all part of the "military life" of the theater over the years. The 2nd studio of the Moscow Art Theater (1916–1917). He is plays one of the main roles in the play "Green Ring" Z.
