В статье рассматриваются функции изображений сада или упоминаний о нём в картинах окружающего мира Л. Н. Толстого. В ходе анализа прослеживается связь между реализацией образа сада и экспликацией ментальных оппозиций «свое – чужое», «истинное – ложное», «земное – небесное», а также делаются выводы об особенностях ментального пространства автора. У статті розглядаються функції зображень саду або згадок про нього в картинах навколишнього світу Л. М. Толстого. В ході аналізу простежується зв'язок між реалізацією образу саду і експлікацією ментальних опозицій «своє – чуже», «істинне – хибне», «земне – небесне», а також робляться висновки про особливості ментального простору автора. The article is devoted to one of the key aspects of the studying poetics of literary works – the problem of analysis of the author’s mental space, so it starts with the definition of basic terms of the conducted research: mental space, implicitly, poetics, implicit author, implicit reader, the picture of the surrounding world. The aim of the article is the analysis of the implicit values of the image of the garden in the pictures of the surrounding world, which are created by Russian writers of the XIX century. A key term of the article is the concept of «mental space of the author», which means the author's worldview expressed through spatial characteristics are present in the paintings of the surrounding world. Further, the article attempts to analyze the kind of hypertext, the collection of the paintings of the surrounding world, containing the image of the garden or the mention of it. During the analysis of the correlation between the implementation of the image of the garden and explication of mental oppositions «own – alien», «true – false», «earth – heaven» and draws conclusions about the peculiarities of the mental space of the author.
