Стаття присвячена аналізу фразеологізмів на позначення інтенсивності стану в англійській
 і українській мовах. У роботі зроблено спробу вияву та опису семантичних груп, підгруп і рядів
 досліджуваних фразеологічних одиниць за допомогою формул тлумачення, враховуючи специфіку
 категорії інтенсивності та фразеологічних засобів її вираження. Статья посвящена анализу фразеологизмов, обозначающих интенсивность состояния в
 английском и украинском языках. В работе сделана попытка выявления и описания семантических
 групп, подгрупп и рядов исследуемых фразеологических единиц с помощью формул толкования, учитывая
 специфику категории интенсивности и фразеологических способов ее выражения. The article deals with the analysis of phraseological units which marked intensity of state in English
 and Ukrainian. The basic types, subgroups and ranges of phraseological units are described in the article by
 means of formula of interpretation in consideration of the specificity of the category of intensity and idiomatic
 means of its expression.
 The category of intensity in linguistics is disputable and varied and interacts with others categories, such as
 expressivity, emotionality, evaluation, figurativeness, gradation. The intensity is interpreted as a quantitative
 qualitative characteristic of state and its degree identified by means of comparison of the intensification meaning
 with neutral one.
 The componential analysis has made it possible to pick out the main words-intensifiers, which signalize a high
 or extreme degree of state.
 The intensity of state which marked phraseological units characterizes a high or extreme degree of its expression that
 may result in qualitative changes of subject. The degree of state, in which subject be, identifies in comparison with the
 neutral (normal) one.
 The semantic analysis has made it possible to pick out five groups of the phraseological units which mean
 intensity of state in English and Ukrainian:
 1) intellectual state; 2) mentally-emotional state; 3) physiological state; 4) the state of quality of social life; 5)
 the state of natural phenomenon flowing.
