Current world trends in the field of materials science are analyzed. The priority areas of research that can contribute to the development of armament and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been determined. У статті обґрунтовано важливість досліджень з вивчення фізико-хімічних, технологічних, експлуатаційних та інших характеристик різноманітних матеріалів з метою створення науково-технічного й технологічного доробку для виробництва, модернізації та подальшого розвитку інноваційного високотехнологічного озброєння та військової техніки. Проаналізовано сучасні світові тенденції в галузі матеріалознавства. Визначено пріоритетні напрями досліджень, які можуть сприяти розвитку озброєння та військової техніки Збройних Сил України.
