The so-called water conflicts related to the use of transnational water resources accompany the entire history of mankind, but in the current conditions they threaten to become the main element of the political life in the XXI century. There are increasing risks for such conflicts to escalate into armed confrontations over access to water resources, in particular between nuclear weapon states. The authors consider the threats of water conflicts for Ukraine and emphasize the need to take these challenges into account in modern systems of international and national security. Так звані водні конфлікти, пов’язані з використанням транснаціональних водних ресурсів, супроводжують усю історію людства, але в нинішніх умовах вони загрожують стати основним елементом політичного життя XXI ст. Підвищуються ризики переростання таких конфліктів у збройні протистояння за доступ до водних ресурсів, зокрема між державами, що мають ядерну зброю. Автори розглядають загрози водних конфліктів для України і наголошують на необхідності врахування цих викликів у сучасних системах міжнародної та національної безпеки.
