Many characters previously considered taxonomically significant have been found to have repeatedly arisen in different phylogenetic lineages during the evolution of cyanobacteria, and genetic diversity of taxa often greatly exceeds their morphological diversity. Attempts to combine the approaches of morphological taxonomy with molecular data did not solve the problem, although they helped to systematize the results of floristic studies. The emergence of a new classification system of cyanobacteria (NCSC), in which the authors relied on genomic phylogeny, determined the need to revise the taxonomic structure of the flora of cyanobacteria of Ukraine, since its last published version, based on taxonomic information as of 2021, no longer corresponds to the modern classification of cyanobacteria. The paper analyzes the main innovations of the NCSC and the changes that have occurred with the leading taxa of the Ukrainian flora, and also provides an updated taxonomic structure of the cyanobacteria of Ukraine. Систематика ціанобактерій переживає період швидких змін, пов’язаних із появою нових молекулярних маркерів, удосконаленням молекулярно-філогенетичних методів та широким застосуванням комплексного підходу при описі нових таксонів. Було показано, що багато ознак, які вважалися таксономічно значущими, незалежно виникали у різних філогенетичних лініях у ході еволюції ціанобактерій, а генетичне різноманіття таксонів часто значно перевищує морфологічне. Спроби поєднати підходи морфологічної систематики з молекулярними даними не вирішували проблеми, хоча й допомагали систематизувати результати флористичних досліджень. Поява нової класифікаційної системи ціанобактерій (НКСЦ), при створенні якої автори спирались на геномну філогенію та філогенію на основі гена 16S рРНК, визначила необхідність перегляду систематичної структури флори ціанобактерій України, оскільки її останній опублікований варіант, що базувався на таксономічних відомостях станом на 2021 р., вже не відповідає сучасній класифікації ціанобактерій. У роботі проаналізовано основні нововведення НКСЦ та зміни, що відбулися з провідними таксонами української флори, а також наведено оновлену систематичну структуру ціанобактерій України. M.G.
