Metal and Casting of Ukraine| Zusammenfassung: | The analysis of the state and development prospects of the world and Ukrainian metallurgical production has been made. There is a tendency to increase the world steel production, with its systematic decline in Ukraine. An exception in this regard is the Azovstal Iron and Steel Works, the volume of metallurgical production at which is not only decreasing, but even slightly increasing. The high energy intensity of Ukrainian metallurgical products reduces its competitiveness. The way out of the difficult financial and economic situation of the metallurgical industry of Ukraine is to improve the quality and reduce the cost of production. Constant attention to these problems is given at the plant, in particular, in the blast furnace production. At the same time, a number of environmental problems are constantly being resolved by decommissioning obsolete and outdated technological equipment, technical re-equipment of metallurgical production, improving technology, reducing energy and material costs for the production of pig iron and steel.
Many years earlier the plant’s blast furnace operators on an industrial scale tested the technology of blast-furnace melting by blowing hot reducing gases into the furnace, and mastered the technology of blast-furnace melting with a hot blast temperature of 1350 °C. Already then this necessitated the improvement of the design of air heaters and the use of other refractory materials for heating the blast.
In recent years particular attention has been paid to the technical re-equipment and improvement of blast furnace technology: the installation of bell-less loading devices on blast furnaces no. 3 and no. 4, the introduction of blast furnace technology with pulverized coal injection into the hearth in all furnaces, and a conveyor system for loading iron-containing materials from hopper bunkers into skips was commissioned at blast furnace no. 3. Copper refrigerators are used to cool the refractory masonry of blast furnaces.
Modernization of blast furnace equipment requires significant capital investments, while the cost of implementing the results of research and development, as a rule, is at a disproportionately lower level, or it does not require any costs at all, providing significant economic and environmental results. |
