Zusammenfassung:The article discusses the technological features of the introduction of continuous casting at the metallurgical enterprises focused on the production of small-section and wire metal products and key factors such as the billet cross-section, the choice of the location of the continuous casting machine, schemes for transferring continuously cast billets to the small-section and wire mills. The prerequisites for the introduction of continuous casting and tasks, the solution of which is necessary for its implementation, in particular, the organization of metal flows in a tundish, the dosing of steel from tundish to mold, the use of molds with variable cross-section, methods and modes of secondary cooling of continuously cast billets, etc. are described. Modern methods of external dynamic effects on the metal in the precrystallization period, in particular, electromagnetic stirring of the liquid phase of a continuously cast billet and the technology of "soft" reduction are described. The features of casting blooms and billets from flock-susceptible steel grades, measures to prevent the formation of defects in continuously cast billets are described. As one of the essential conditions for the use of continuous casting machines, the methods of secondary metallurgy to prepare steel for continuous casting are considered in detail. Particular attention is paid to the processing of steel in ladle-furnace unit and vacuum degassers, in particular, the choice of specific processing methods depending on the range of steel produced and the technological problems they solve. The advantages and prospects of combining the processes of continuous casting of billets with metal forming (rolling) are considered, as well as the tasks and problems that arise before engineers in their implementation. In particular, along with the traditional technology for the production of rolled products, the technologies of "hot charging" and direct rolling are considered.
