The article estimates possibilities and limitations in application of an integration approach to regional development. In particular, the aims, potential and features of its realization under socio-economic conditions in Ukraine are determined. The author has formulated the basic imperatives of process of formation of the extended space of the interregional economic system in the structure of the national economy of Ukraine. Based on estimation of integration depth, the pattern of formation of interregional economic systems in Ukraine expedient from the point of view of present integration co-operations is proposed. The basic instruments of integration co-operations intensification are specified within the limits of the interregional economic systems (clusters, macroregions). Статья посвящена оценке возможностей и ограничений применения интеграционного подхода к региональному развитию. В частности, определенны цели, потенциал и особенности его реализации в социально-экономических условиях Украины. Сформулированы основные императивы процесса формирования расширенного пространства межрегиональной экономической системы в структуре национальной экономики Украины. На основе оценки глубины интеграции определена целесообразная, с точки зрения имеющихся интеграционных взаимодействий, схема формирования межрегиональных экономических систем в Украине. Конкретизированы основные инструменты интенсификации интеграционных взаимодействий в пределах межрегиональных экономических систем (кластеров, макрорегионов). Стаття присвячена оцінці можливостей і обмежень застосування інтеграційного підходу до регіонального розвитку. Зокрема, визначено цілі, потенціал і особливості його реалізації в соціально-економічних умовах України. Сформульовано основні імперативи процесу формування розширеного простору міжрегіональної економічної системи у структурі національної економіки України. На основі оцінки глибини інтеграції визначено доцільну, з точки зору наявних інтеграційних взаємодій, схему формування міжрегіональних економічних систем в Україні. Конкретизовано основні інструменти інтенсифікації інтеграційних взаємодій у межах міжрегіональних економічних систем-кластерів, макрорегіонів). V.
