Резюме:The paper examines the existent system of educa­tion in the context of defining its role in the formation of human capital. A comprehensive system analysis of the effectiveness of the changes occurred in the or­ganization of educational activities, including those through increase of the institutional autonomy was made. The attention is focused on the special role and moral responsibility of a school teacher for the results of his teaching activity. The shortcomings of the existent order of evaluation of school knowledge and admission to higher educational establishments have been identi­fied. The author presents his own vision how to reform the educational process and make the best choice of future profession.
