Обосновано чрезвычайную значимость высшего образования для экономического и социального прогресса страны и необходимость исследования тенденций и направлений ее развития. Описаны основные тенденции развития украинской высшей школы за годы независимости. Рассчитаны и проанализированы показатели динамики количества украинских ВУЗов разных уровней аккредитации и их выпускников по образовательно-квалификационным уровням. Проанализированы результаты функционирования системы высшего образования в Украине с позиции личности и государства, а также показатели рынка труда высококвалифицированных специалистов. Определены современные направления развития отечественной системы высшего образования. Обґрунтовано надзвичайну значимість вищої освіти для економічного й соціального прогресу країни та необхідність дослідження тенденцій і напрямів її розвитку. Описано основні тенденції розвитку української вищої школи зароки незалежності. Розраховано і проаналізовано показники динаміки кількості українських ВНЗ різних рівнів акредитації та їх випускників за освітньо-кваліфікаційними рівнями. Проаналізовано результати функціонування системи вищої освіти в Украйні з позиції особистості й держави, а також показний ринку праці висококваліфікованих фахівців. Визначено сучасні напрями розвитку вітчизняної системи вищої освіти. V.
