The article presents the results of the analysis of the correspondence of the current environmental legis­lation of Ukraine to the principles of financial responsibility of “polluters” for the consequences entailed by pollution. Main reasons for the ineffective realization of the “polluter pays principle” are established. Приведены результаты анализа соответствия действующего природоохранного законодатель­ства Украины принципам материальной ответ­ственности «загрязнителей» за последствия соз­данного ими загрязнения. Установлены основные причины неэффективной реализации принципа «загрязнитель платит» на практике. Наведено результати аналізу відповіднос­ті чинного природоохоронного законодавства України принципам матеріальної відповідальнос­ті «забруднювачів»: за наслідки створеного ними забруднення. Встановлено основні причини неефективної реалізації принципу «забруднювач сплачує» на практиці. V.
