Summary:There was studied the ability of siloxane xerogels and mesoporous silicas functionalized by thiourea groups to adsorb microquantities of gold (III) from its solutions in hydrochloric acid. It has been shown that this ability would drastically increase with the growth of specific surface area of adsorbents, due to presence of aminopropylic groups on the surface as well as with temperature increase of working solutions. At the same temperature gold (III) is easily desorbed with 4% ethanol-water solution of thiourea. It has been found that diffusion factor influence on gold adsorption is the least in case of use of mesoporous silicas functionalized with thiourea groups.
