Description
Summary:As shown by adsorption and IR-spectroscopy methods, adsorption of nonionogenic water-soluble polymer – polyvinylpyrrolidone – onto the fumed silica surface is caused by formation of numerous hydrogen bonds between surface silanol groups and oxygen atoms of adsorbed molecules. Adsorption processes proceed on the surface of just the primary particles of fumed silica, and steric hindrances are absent for interaction of the polymer macromolecules with silica surface.
