Description
Summary:The effect of modification by polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) on the interaction of fumed silica with iodine has been investigated by UV spectroscopy method. It has been found that modification with PVP increases sorption capacity with respect to iodine molecules. The role of structural factors on the formation of iodine complexes with macromolecules such as PVP and BSA has been estimated. It has been shown that structure of modifying layer on the silica surface depends on polymer nature and governs the mechanism of small molecules adsorption.
