Summary:The mechanism of interaction between KOH and coal and the influence of alkali on surface area development under thermolysis (400-800°С) were studied. The treatment of coal in mixture of nitric acid with acetic anhydride (20°С) has a considerable effect on development of its pore structure (samples with specific surface area of 1700-1800 m2/g were obtained).
