Summary:The TiO2/ZrO2/SiO2/Au films with the different gold contents were prepared by sol-gel method. The surface structure of the films was investigated using SEM and AFM methods. The increase of the gold mol. percent in the film brought to the growth and aggregation of the gold nanoparticles. The considerable growth of the gold nanoparticles was observed in the films obtained by multilayer covering. From the dye RB photodegradation experiments it followed that the film with 5 % of gold in TiO2/ZrO2/SiO2/Au exhibited in ten-time higher photocatalytic activity than TiO2/ZrO2/SiO2 film.
