Description
Summary:Temperature-programmed desorption mass spectrometry has been used for investigation of thermal transformations of polyphenylmethylsiloxane (PPMS) adsorbed on the surface of silica-based materials. Pyrogenic silica samples containing PPMS in amount 5–40 wt. % with respect to SiO2 mass and nanocomposite samples MxOy/SiO2 (М – Cu, Mg, Mn, Ni and Zn) with PPMS amount 30 wt. % were studied. It has been shown that thermal destruction is accompanied by formation of benzene, methane, trimethylsilanol, water, toluene and trace amounts of compounds with masses of ions m/z more than 100. Effect of metal oxides on reaction products has been discussed as well as specific features of thermal desorption of water and its participation in surface reactions.
