Surface| Summary: | The properties of zirconia coated silicas were studied using XRD, nitrogen adsorption-desorption, and SEM methods. The structure was determined and the influence of the support morphology on formation of nanozirconia on silica substrates was found. The matrix was shown to build up barriers against the formation of large size zirconia crystallites. ZrO2 nanoparticles formed in silica A-380 surface are larger (13 – 32 nm) than those formed on silica gel (3 – 8 nm) or OX-50 (4 – 5 nm) surfaces. |
