Резюме:The article explores the role of innovation management as a key factor in the structural modernization and sustainable growth of Ukrainian canning industry enterprises amidst the crisis caused by full-scale war and global instability. Innovation is defined as a comprehensive approach to organizing innovative activity that integrates innovation into strategic management to build sustainable competitive advantages. The historical evolution of the term and modern approaches to its interpretation (business strategies, technological development, social impact) have been analysed. Key characteristics of innovation have been identified: quality of innovation strategy, level of potential utilization, volume of investments. Based on the analysis of the state of Ukraine's canning industry (raw material constraints, rising costs, declining exports) and global market trends (growing demand, healthy products, technological innovations), the necessity of transformation through innovation has been substantiated. Four main directions of innovation for the industry have been proposed and illustrated with examples: product (organic, vegan, baby-food, local identity), technological (energy efficiency, automation, waste-free production, IoT), marketing (digital sales, international branding, Farm-to-Table), organizational-managerial (clustering, outsourcing, ERP systems, quality standards). It has been emphasized that innovation forms a new agro-processing ecosystem, fostering local development, import substitution, and global recognition. Key barriers to its implementation have been identified: insufficient financing, shortage of qualified personnel, lack of a national support program, low digital literacy. The work contributes to the conceptualization of innovation and offers practical vectors for its implementation to enhance the industry's competitiveness.
