Description
Summary:Porous films of nickel hydroxide have been obtained by method of cathodic deposition. A study on the kinetics of optical transformations in such films under action of CO and Cl2 has shown that change of their color is as results of redox reactions of Ni(OH)2 or NiOOH due to interaction with oxidizing (Cl2) or reducing (CO) gases. It has been found that cathode deposited Ni(OH)2 films are promising for use as optical materials for determination of small concentrations (0.2–1 vol.%) of Cl2 and CO in the air.
