Description
Summary:The Hill’s theory of polymolecular adsorption from binary gas mixture was used to describe the dependence of partition coefficient of organic trace gases between atmospheric particulate’ surface and air (KP) on the air’ relative humidity (RH). An empirical relationship was derived to estimate the parameters of the dependence as a function of the adsorption heats of water and the gas on the particulate surface as well as of their evaporation heats. The proposed expression for adsorption on the discrete heterogeneous surface over the free adsorption energies of the gas and qualitative “structure-activity” relationship (QSAR) between free adsorption energies of the gases on the surface of components of mineral particulates and molecular descriptors of the gases structure makes it possible to describe the dependence of  the KP value for various gases on the RH  in area of its high values with reasonable accuracy on basis of the QSAR’ coefficients for dry particulate’ surface and water.
