Summary:Adsorption-electrochemical study of the oxidation of hydrogen sulfide on the surface of modified activated carbons (AC) are carried out. The dependences of the currents of hydrogen sulfide oxidation in the cell with separate spaces on the nature of coal and gas mixtures are obtained. The kinetics of formation of the AC surface potentials are studied. The nature of the electrochemical oxidation of hydrogen sulfide with oxygen on the surface and with the participation of active carbon are shown. Established the role of oxygen-containing AC as mediator in this process. Confirmed influence of heteroatoms of nitrogen by activity of coals for reactions by redox type.
