Summary:A Brownian motor model with a fluctuating saw-tooth potential profile is elaborated; the profile parameterization, its symmetry properties, as well as the qualitative analysis of the dependences of the average motor velocity on the parameters of the model are presented. A modification of the saw-tooth profile is suggested that does not belong to the class of antisymmetric functions and provides directed motion of inertial particles at fluctuations of the potential profile sign. For this case, an analytical expression for the average motor velocity is obtained that gives its nonmonotonic behaviour depending on a parameter characterizing the deviation of the profile from an antisymmetric one. It is shown that, for inertial particles, the direction of motion can be reversed by changing this parameter.
