Tooling materials science| Zusammenfassung: | The physico-chemical and physico-mechanical characteristics of diamond grinding powders of the AS20 grade of 200/160 grit obtained in the Ni-Mn-C growth system were considered. It is shown that the IR spectra of the original powder contains a strongly pronounced absorption band in a wide frequency range of 3000-3800 cm−1. It corresponds to the valence vibrations of the O–H bond, indicates the presence of hydroxyl functional groups on the diamond surface, and is significantly weakened after their thermochemical treatment.
It is shown that for the initial grinding powders before and after thermochemical treatment, there is a dependence of hydrophilicity indicators on the quantitative content of inclusions and impurities in them and changes in magnetic properties in the form of specific magnetic susceptibility. The surface of diamonds of the magnetic fraction with a higher content of impurities and inclusions and with higher magnetic properties is more hydrophilic.
Thus, the hydrophilicity of the surface of diamonds is one of the indicators for assessing the defects of their surface and can be used as a criterion for the quality of grinding powders, because it is related to their physical and mechanical properties. |
