An overview of the energy problems of Ukraine, Europe and the world is given, the challenges and risks faced by the socio-economic sphere, academic fundamental science as a result of Russian aggression, in particular in the field of energy, are analyzed. The role of science as an intellectual foundation for the socio-economic, political and military power of the state is emphasized. A list of fundamental and applied research and development in the field of communal energy, aimed at reliable energy supply of residential and public buildings, is provided. These studies formed a new scientific direction - fundamental thermophysical engineering. The state and trends of energy development in Europe and the world in the context of economic threats, price policy, resource base, energy conversion technologies and final low-carbon energy use are presented. Наведено огляд проблем енергетики України, Європи і світу, проаналізовано виклики і ризики, які постали перед соціальне-економічною сферою, академічною фундаментальною наукою внаслідок російської агресії, зокрема в галузі енергетики. Підкреслено роль науки як інтелектуального фундаменту для соціально-економічної, політичної і воєнної могутності держави. Наведено перелік фундаментальних і прикладних досліджень та розробок в галузі комунальної енергетики, що спрямовані для надійного енергозабезпечення житлових і громадських будівель. Ці дослідження сформували новий науковий напрям – фундаментальну теплофізичну інженерію. Наведено стан і тренди розвитку енергетики Європи і світу в контексті економічних загроз, цінової політики, ресурсної бази, технологій енергоперетворення і кінцевого низьковуглецевого енерговикористання.
