Summary:Adaptive scheme for numerical solution of the advection equation is considered. The scheme is developed by addition of anti-diffusion terms in the monotone difference scheme of first order. Anti-diffusion flux-determination problem is reduced to optimization problem. Cost functional is selected such that to increase accuracy of the adaptive scheme and to provide non-oscillatory of difference solution. Existence and uniqueness of solution for direct and conjugate finite-difference problem is proved. The differential properties of the cost functional are investigated and the necessary first-order optimality conditions are obtained.
