The content of the methodology is determined. This allowed characterizing the complexity of the methodology of investigation of auto transport in the economy. The essence of the basic terms, that forme the conceptual-categorical apparatus of investigation of auto transport in the economy is disclosed. The theoretical foundations of investigation of auto transport in the economy is developed. Theories are divided into groups of interdisciplinary, basic and modern. Particular attention is paid to the situation of theories of urbanism, theory of traffic flow, geologistic and intermodalism. Розкрито методологічні основи дослідження автомобільного транспорту в економічній галузі знань. Визначено зміст методології, що дозволило охарактеризувати та узагальнити теоретичні аспекти дослідження автомобільного транспорту в економіці. Розкрито зміст основних термінів, які формують понятійно-категорійний апарат дослідження автомобільного транспорту. Теорії розподілено за групами: міждисциплінарні (економіка транспорту, географія транспорту, соціологія транспорту, політика транспорту, культура транспорту, екологія транспорту та ін.), базові (глобалізації, сталого розвитку, просторової організації (простороло-гії), урбаністичні, мобільності, якості життя, державного регулювання економіки та ін.), модерні (геологістики, транспортного потоку, інтермодалізму, екологічної економіки, сталого (зеленого) транспорту, інноваційних транспортних технологій та ін.). Особливу увагу приділено стану урбаністичних теорій, теорії транспортного потоку, геологістики і інтермодалізму. V.M.
