This paper presents the results of industrial studies of the conditions for the occurrence of surface defects associated with spraying of steel at the site of the industrial-bucket batcher and the mold of the sectional caster, as well as an assessment of the possibility of reducing the phenomenon of rhenium during the start of the caster. This publication also presents the results of apply-ing «gauge» inserts for dosing glasses with alternative chemical composition. The results of the work tes-tify to the prospect of research aimed at the use of «gauge» dosing glasses with alternative chemical composition, allowing for a stable outflow of the metal jet at the start of the continuous casting machine series. Поступила 05.11.2018 УДК 669.74.047 Специфікою розливання сортової заготівки на багатоструменевих сортових машинах безпрервного лиття заготівок є відсутність можливості контролю якості кожної заготівки, в тому числі і її поверхні. У даній роботі представлено результати промислових досліджень умов виникнення поверхневих дефектів, пов’язаних з розбризкуванням сталі на ділянці стакан-дозатор промковша та кристалізатор сортової машини безперервного лиття заготівки, а також оцінка можливості зменшення явища «віяльності» в період старту машини безперервного лиття заготівок. Також у даній публікації представлено результати застосування «калібрувальних» вставок для стаканів-дозаторів з альтернативним хімічним складом. Результати роботи свідчать про перспективу досліджень, спрямованих на застосування «калібрувальних» стаканів-дозаторів з альтернативним хімічним складом, що дозволяють забезпечити стабільне витікання струменя металу на старті серії машини безперервного лиття заготівок.
