Резюме:The article analyses the advantages and disadvantages of the known methods for calculating the percentage of charge components for smelting grey synthetic pig iron for various purposes. It is shown that the known methods mostly solve the problem of choosing the optimal composition of charge components for smelting cast iron with a given chemical composition at minimal costs forthe necessary charge components. The article provides information on the charge materials that are most common in the production practice of foundries. The principles and methods of approximate calculation of the charge are outlined. The sequence of calculating the charge composition by the selection method is presented on a specific example. This technique has become widespread in production practice due to its simplicity and ability to provide sufficiently acceptable results in the first approximation for the formation of the charge composition for the smelting of grey synthetic iron in induction crucible furnaces. A significant drawback of the known methods of charge calculation is that they do not take into account the instability of the chemical composition and properties of the charge components. The known methods do not provide an opportunity at the stage of calculating the composition of the charge to predict the ranges of variation of the content of chemical elements in the composition of smelted iron and to assess the danger of their content going beyond the ranges defined by the standards for foundry products. The article highlights reserves and prospects for improving the methods of calculating the composition of the charge by applying a probabilistic approach to assessing the instability of the content of chemical elements in the components of the charge using the Monte Carlo method. The proposed methodology for calculating the charge should be considered as an integral part of a comprehensive two-stage approach to modelling the procedure for ensuring the required chemical composition of pig iron smelted in induction furnaces.
