Casting Processes| Zusammenfassung: | Ductile cast irons with perlitic metal base are widely used in the production of a large range of high load machine parts. World leaders in the field of ductile cast iron successfully manufacture parts from new grades of perlitic ductile cast iron, which, compared to Ukrainian grades, have a 700-850 MPa tensile strength and a 2.5-5 times higher relative elongation. Traditional manufacturing technologies of such cast irons requires an expensive alloying elements use (like nickel and/or copper) in the charge and carrying out of energy-intensive heat treatment. The article provides comparative data on the influence of base melt (from different quality charge materials) ladle modifying with two types of magnesium-containing master alloys, namely nickel-magnesium NiMg15 and ferrosil icon-magnesium-calcium FeSi45Mg7Ca4, on the structure formation and mechanical properties of ductile cast irons in as-cast state and after normalization. The obtained results indicate that the use of the developed process of initial melt modifying-refining processing with ferrosilicon-magnesium-calcium master alloy FeSi45Mg7Ca4 together with the fusible oxide-fluoridic slag of the CaO-SiO2-CaF2 system instead of traditional modifying process with nickel-magnesium master alloy NiMg15 and ferrosilicon FeSi75 is promising and an effective method of perlitic ductile cast irons with increased technological and mechanical properties obtaining at low energy consumption for castings heat treatment. The developed technology allows to obtain perlitic ductile cast iron with the following mechanical properties: tensile strength Rm = 830-890 МПа; elongation A = 6,5-7,5 %; impact toughness КS = 30-65 J/cm2 at Brinell hardness of 241-255 НВ. The research results create preconditions for the development of new parts designs for modern technic with given high mechanical properties and performance characteristics which blanks are obtained with casting method and of high-efficiency economic technologies for their production. |
