Marine Ecological Journal| Summary: | The population dynamics, biomass and distribution off the coast of the Crimea polychaetes Saccocirrus papillocercus Bobretzky, 1872 were studied. Number S. papillocercus depends on the granulometric composition of soil, preferred shallow gravel and coarse sand. The minimum abundance (2 ind .m-2) and biomass (0.0012 g. m-2) were observed in the waters of Cape Opuk, the maximum (3525 ind.m-2, and 8.2709 g.m-2, respectively) - in the area Okunevka. In the laboratory, larval development of S. papillocercus lasted 8 – 9 days. The larvae settled and attached to the substrate having a body length of 104 – 128 mm. |
