Marine Ecological Journal| Резюме: | The vertical distribution of pelagic Copepoda of the Black Sea and its daily dynamics in the area above fall of depth in front of the south-western Crimea in November 2010 was investigated. Peculiarities of diurnal vertical movements of all copepodite stages of the dominant species of copepods are described. For the first time a recent invader in the Black Sea Oithona davisae (Copepoda, Cyclopoida) is found in large quantities (more than 9 000 ind. m -3) in the open areas of sea. The sizes of all copepodite stages of O. davisae were measured and it was shown that the crustaceans in the open sea areas (females 0.48–0.56, males 0.46–0.5 mm) are significantly smaller than in coastal waters. |
